the beginning
During a trip to Las Vegas, to partake in the events at the Consumer Electronics Show, a couple of software and network engineers, from Dallas Texas, met the CEO of a consulting firm from West Virginia. The engineers had also started a consulting firm of their own. The CEO revealed that he needed some assistance with a biometric solution. Lucky for the CEO the engineers were in the process of developing software for a fingerprint recognition device; the same device that the CEO needed assistance with. This was our entry into the biometric community.
if only it was iris
In a sales meeting to a bank that prided itself for being high technology and paperless the CTO of the bank quoted several times "if only it was iris". At the conclusion of the meeting the President of the bank said, with a grin, "it sounds like we want iris". Iris was unknown to us, so we told the President of the bank that we would look into it and get back to him.
what is iris
We left the bank meeting knowing we needed to understand iris technology. After researching and evaluating all the major iris recognition devices we found that the Iris ID camera was far superior than all the others. In fact, one of the other device manufacturers admitted that the Iris ID devices are the best the industry has to offer.
With the device selected an iris solution was in the near future. Four months after the meeting with the bank, version 1 of SurEyeDentity was completed and ready for prime time. It was a Microsoft Windows Desktop application and we were ready to go back to the bank.
let's try that again
With the new iris solution tucked under our arms we went back to the bank. We were actually always communicating with the bank getting their input . We presented the solution and at the end of the meeting we were asked to install four cameras and software in two branches.
other companies should know about this
From the humble beginning described above we took our show on the road. We thought our solution was going to be used for security, since it could perform 100% positive identification. But, even the first implementation, at the bank, was not for that purpose. We then came to realize that our solution could be applied to many applications. And our first and second implementations were completely different. Our second implementation came on the heels of our first implementation after the vice president of our second client saw our devices in our first client's [the bank] premise.
